Youth Catcher's Gloves
Youth catcher's mitts built to take a beating behind the plate, sized for developing backstops, from our youth baseball gloves.
A youth catcher’s mitt is a catcher’s glove sized for young players. It has no individual fingers, extra padding to protect the hand from pitches, and a smaller hand opening and lighter build than adult mitts, so kids can close it and control it more easily.
Catcher’s mitts are measured by circumference. As a general guide:
31" to 31.5": younger catchers just starting at the position
32" to 32.5": the most popular size for developing youth catchers
33": older youth catchers getting ready for adult mitts

Look for a mitt that’s light, well-padded and easy to close. Series like the All Star Future Star and Comp, the Rawlings Renegade, the Wilson A360 and the Mizuno Prospect are designed for young catchers just starting out.
Most catchers move up around age 13 or when their hand outgrows youth sizes. When they’re ready, shop our adult catcher’s mitts.
Catcher’s mitts are stiffer than other gloves because of their padding. Catching lots of pitches and working the mitt along its natural break point is the best way to soften it. For a game-ready mitt faster, try our Mitt Master glove break-in service or our glove break-in products.
Young catchers need full protection: a catcher’s helmet, chest protector and leg guards. Browse our player protection gear to complete the setup, plus glove care products to keep the mitt in top shape.
