Women's Metal Cleats

Steel-spike traction for competitive women's play on firm fields.

How to choose: metal gives the most bite but is banned in many rec and youth leagues, so confirm your rules first; if metal isn't allowed, our women's molded cleats are the go-to.

Fastpitch is a game of short, explosive bursts: getting out of the box on a slap, stealing second, charging a bunt. Metal cleats dig deeper into the dirt than molded studs, giving the quickest first step and the most secure footing when changing direction.

Most players switch when they reach high school, competitive club or college fastpitch, where metal is allowed and the speed of the game rewards the extra traction. Younger players usually stay in molded TPU or rubber cleats, and many youth leagues require them. Check your league’s rules before buying.

Usually not. Most artificial turf fields and indoor facilities ban metal spikes. If your team plays on turf, keep a pair of molded cleats or turf shoes as a backup.

Yes, metal gives a solid push off the rubber and a stable landing. Since windmill pitchers drag their back foot on every pitch, add a toe guard from our shoe accessories to protect the toe of your cleat.

Modern metal cleats use cushioning and flexible plates to reduce pressure from the spikes. Mizuno’s 9-Spike models, like the Mizuno Swift, spread traction across nine cleats for a more balanced feel. On very hard, dry fields, some players still prefer molded cleats for comfort.

We carry women’s metal cleats from Mizuno and Under Armour. Players with wider feet can also look at our men’s metal cleats, converting their size (women’s size minus about 1.5).
