TPU cleats hit the sweet spot for most players: firm studs that grip dirt infields almost like metal, but allowed in nearly every league and on most turf fields. For a fastpitch player who plays school, club and tournament ball on different surfaces, one pair of TPU cleats can do it all.
Metal cleats give the deepest bite on natural dirt, which some elite players prefer. TPU cleats are more versatile, more comfortable on hard fields and accepted where metal isn’t. If you’re unsure whether metal is allowed in your league or at your tournament fields, TPU is the safe choice.
Yes. When a player outgrows girls’ cleats, TPU cleats are the natural next step. They offer more traction than the rubber cleats most young players wear, without the league restrictions that come with metal.
Yes. Catchers need solid grip to pop up and throw to second, but also comfort for a full game in the crouch. TPU offers both, and mid-cut models add extra ankle support.
TPU studs grip well on damp dirt and grass, though they won’t dig in as deep as metal in heavy mud. Knock the mud off between innings to keep the studs clear, and let your cleats air dry at room temperature after the game.
TPU is very durable and wears more slowly than rubber. Avoid long walks on concrete or asphalt, and wear women’s slides to and from the field. Pitchers should add a toe guard from our shoe accessories to protect their drag foot.
We carry women’s TPU cleats from New Balance, Under Armour, Mizuno, Nike and Adidas.
